Spellbinders Tips & Tricks
• Intricate cuts in die templates may "catch" your cutting material. Place wax paper between die template and material before cutting.
• Sprinkle baby powder to prevent embossing mat from sticking to die and material.
• The cut sandwich for Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine: A Base Plate on the bottom/Spellbinders Die Template (cut side up)/Cutting Material (desired pattern face down) on top of die template/C Cutting Plate. Insert through the front of Grand Calibur, turning handle and the sandwich exists at the back.
• For a more detailed cut, run plate's right or left justified and/or rotate dies 45 degrees and re-run through the machine.
SBS4-339 - 2012 Holiday Tree
This relates to SBS4-339 - 2012 Holiday Tree
The die in question is one of Spellbinders more intricate dies. It is especially nice for Christmas cards even though it is a bit more difficult to use than other dies.
Here are some of the things we have found that make it easier to use.
1. Place the die to one side of the base plate. There is greater pressure at each edge of the Grand Calibur machine.
2. Use baking paper (waxed paper in the US) between the die and the media the first few times.
3. Run the die through and roll it back so it has 2 passes. Then check the cut, if not complete yet rotate 45 degrees and run it through 2 more times again keeping it to the side as much as possible.
Hope this information helps. They do make great cards and projects.

Claudine Hellmuth Studio Creative Layers Stamps!
I am so excited to share with you my newest product release. Brought to you by Ranger & Stampers Anonymous, The Studio Creative Layers Collection!
Creative Layers are coordinating sets of clear and foam stamps that I drew and doodled in my little sketch book. I was inspired by one colour illustrations from the 40's and 50's where the colour registration is a little off -- leaving colour outside the lines.
Nothing makes my heart flutter like off-register printing!
The video below features Tim Holtz with Claudine's new Creative Layer designs.

Martha Stewart Punches
Martha Stewart Punches work perfectly with card - even heavy embossed cardstock and most paper weights - but do not work very well with thin paper - the punch does not want to release the paper from the body of the punch. We recommend that when you use them, then use cardstock - and if they are going to be used with fairly thin paper - the paper should be inserted into the punch WITH some cardstock - you will find this stops all the problems of the paper not being released. We hope you find this useful, and would welcome your comments.
